Training Run 2/11/11

Shifter

Date: February 11, 2011

Distance: 39 miles. 2 hour 42 minutes

Weather: 11 degrees and windy

Equipment: Sled

Trail Conditions: hard packed

Dog Positions: 12 dog team. Magpie-Goose, Zak-Katya, Snap-Chickadee, Sparrow-Shrike, Widegon-Jane, Shifter-Scoter

Music Choice: Shuffle

Notes: Good run from the Willow Community Center down Corral Hill to the Big Su River. They dogs did very well out and back averaging 11.2 miles per hour. No injuries to report on the trail. At the halfway point I stopped and turned the dogs around and gave the team a beef snack, checked their feet, replaced booties that were lost or torn and headed back.

When we arrived back, a little after 7 pm the dogs’ tails were wagging and their attitudes were good.

On the trail toward the Big Su River

Back the truck I was welcomed by Paul and Austin who helped me load the dogs and the gear into the truck. Its great to work as a team!
